Youth Programs
The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department provides a supervised playground program for youngsters grades 2 through 8 at the 5 major parks from 9 am to 4 pm. The children participating in this program, however, are free to enter and leave the parks at their own volition.
The activities offered include baseball, kickball, basketball, informal games, special events, arts and crafts, and much more.
This is a Saturday morning program for 2 hours for 1st graders. This is a condensed version of our summer camp program to get youngster accustomed to the summer camp when they enter 2nd grade. This program hosted at Saylesville Elementary every Saturday from 10am- 12pm starting in July. There will be playground play as well as scheduled activities and events.
LPR Field hockey clinic is starting in June! This is a five week program hosted at Lincoln High School turf. Please bring shin guards, cleats, & mouthguards.
Youth Tennis lessons. Starting in June; 7 week program for grades 2-8. Lessons are an hour long. First session grades 2-4, second session grades 5-6, and third session grades 7-8. Hosted at Lime Acres tennis courts- 133 Jenckes Hill Rd.
Track program for Lincoln residents. Team relay "races”, sprints, and long distance- The fundamentals of body positioning, stride, proper stretching, and cool-down techniques. Hosted at Lime Acres park and LHS
Parks and Rec collaboration with Roots Lacrosse for a youth instructional lacrosse program. Kids will learn & practice the basics of lacrosse during this 4 week program. No experience? Then this is the perfect program to register your child for!
An after-school program that is offered at no cost to Lincoln middle school students.
The program allows them to be with friends; play pool, ping pong, foosball, board games, video games, watch TV and movies, skateboard, play basketball, and trips to Albion park.
We are open every Wednesday afternoon. Students meet outside the Middle School upon dismissal and are given rides to the Youth Center on the "Fun Bus". The Youth Center is open until 5 pm on Wednesdays, and rides are offered home if needed.
This program takes place throughout the year for 5 weeks at a time. Parks and Recreation staff instruct Lincoln residents grades Pre-K through 2nd on using proper fundamental skills of basketball, as well as the rules of the game.
Open to Lincoln residents in the 3rd and 4th grades. An instructional basketball league; games are played on Saturdays.
Games will be played at either Lincoln Middle School or Lincoln High School (location will be determined closer to start of program) with 8 feet baskets to promote proper form in shooting, while giving participants greater chance of success.
This league begins in the winter every year.
Open to Lincoln residents in the 5th and 6th grades basketball league; games are played on Saturdays. Separate divisions for boys and girls.
Games will be played at the Lincoln High School.
This league begins in the Winter every year.
"Colours" co-ed basketball: all uniforms are different color giving a unique look to this 7th and 8th grade basketball league.
Games are played weeknights in the Middle School gym.
This league begins in the winter every year.
A basketball league for High School students grades 9 to 12.
This is one of our biggest sports leagues with over 100 participants annually. Varsity Basketball players draft and coach the teams weekly.
Games are played on nights in the Middle School Gym. Week night TBD
This league begins in the Winter every year.
This flag football league is open to all Lincoln residents in grades 6 to 8. Games are played on Saturday nights; location TBD. This league begins in the Fall every year.
Introduction of chess for 1st-8th graders. Chess is a game that can be approached as a sport, science, or art form. The game is based on scientific principals that is precise as the laws of mathematics. All strategies of chess will be covered from the fundamentals to more advanced aspects.The instructor, James Della Selva is a former Two Time Rhode Island State Chess Champion and currently holds an expert ranking in the United States Chess Federation. This program is held at the Youth Center, time and day TBD
