Open to Lincoln residents in the 2nd and 3rd grades. An instructional basketball league; games are played on Saturdays. Games will be played at Lincoln Middle School with 8 feet baskets to promote proper form in shooting, while giving participants greater chance of success. College self-defense training equips students with skills beyond physical combat, emphasizing situational awareness and de-escalation to prevent and escape dangerous situations. These programs build confidence and empower students to be "street smart," preparing them for the greater independence of college life. Introduction of chess for 2nd-8th graders. Chess is a game that can be approached as a sport, science, or art form. The game is based on scientific principals that is precise as the laws of mathematics. All strategies of chess will be covered from the fundamentals to more advanced aspects. The instructor, James Della Selva is a former Two Time Rhode Island State Chess Champion and currently holds an expert ranking in the United States Chess Federation. Parks and Rec collaboration with Roots Lacrosse for a youth instructional lacrosse program. Kids will learn & practice the basics of lacrosse during this 4 week program typically hosted in early March or November (based on coaches schedule) . No experience? This program takes place throughout the year for 5 weeks at a time- winter league, registrations start in fall . Parks and Recreation staff instruct Lincoln residents grades Pre-K through 2nd on using proper fundamental skills of basketball, as well as the rules of the game. Program held at Lincoln High School. The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department provides a supervised playground program for youngsters grades 2 through 8 at the 5 major parks from 9 am to 4 pm. The children participating in this program, however, are free to enter and leave the parks at their own volition. The activities offered include baseball, kickball, basketball, informal games, special events, arts and crafts, and much more.
Early Registration on last weekday of June at your local park- first day of camp is July 1st; or sign up any open camp day at your local park.

Youth Tennis lessons. Starting in June; 7 week program for grades 2-8. Lessons are an hour long. First session grades 2-4, second session grades 5-6, and third session grades 7-8. Track program for Lincoln residents. This programs schedule is based on the coaches availability but is hosted between June- August . Team relay "races”, sprints, and long distance- The fundamentals of body positioning, stride, proper stretching, and cool-down techniques. Hosted at Lime Acres park and LHS. For grades 2nd-8th. Classes are designed for all-levels and we encourage everyone to go at their own pace. Come exactly as you are and modify however you need.
